Superside, a startup creating a premium alternative to the prevailing crowdsourced design programs, is declaring that it has raised $3.5 million in new funding round.
It’s further including new features like the ability to work on user interfaces (UI), interaction design, and motion graphics. Co-founder and CEO Fredrik Thomassen stated this allows the corporate to offer “a full-service design solution.”
He said Superside was developed to address his frustrations after attempting to make use of marketplaces like 99designs and Fiverr. He argued that there’s an issue with “adverse selection on these platforms.” In other phrases, “The best people … don’t remain the same, because they don’t have a career path — they’re combating with other freelancers to get the jobs.”
Superside, on the other hand, is selective in regards to the designers it works with — it claims to select 100 designers from over 50,000 applications it receives every year. But when they are accepted, they’re guaranteed full-time work.
Thomassen said the platform is constructed for large businesses which have their design and advertising and marketing teams; however, still, require support. The Company’s Clients include Uber, LinkedIn, L’Oreal, Cisco, Amazon, Walmart Tiffany, Hewlett Packard (HP) and Airbus.
Along with choosing good designers, Superside additionally built a broader project management service.
The brand new funding comes from Freestyle Capital, with participation from High Alpha Projects, Y Combinator, and Alliance Ventures.
“We’re very much a mission-driven firm,” Thomassen said. “For me, the reason to go to work in the morning is to assist in building an online labor market and create equal economic opportunity for everybody on the earth.”
